Admissions and Discharge

Patients arriving at the hospital for inpatient care or outpatient surgery/procedure should check in through the Admissions Office. Whether your admission was scheduled or you arrive in an emergency, Our Lady of Lourdes' admission staff are available to help get you registered as quickly as possible. Room accommodation is determined by your physician according to your medical needs and bed availability.

Please leave all valuables at home or send them home with a family member. Our Lady of Lourdes is not responsible for damage or loss to personal property or items.

Pre-Admission Process
Once you are scheduled for a procedure, you are required to visit the pre-admit department. Please expect a phone call to schedule your pre-admit visit and remind you that it is required. You are encouraged however to call and schedule your pre-admit appointment. This may be done by you or your physician’s office.

For any concerns that you may have, the pre-admit department is available from 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday (except for holidays) at 337-470-2955.

In preparation for this visit, you will need to bring all current medications in the original bottles (prescription and over-the-counter medications, Eye and ear drops).

*We encourage all patients to preadmit in the pre-admit department during hours of operation. However, if your schedule doesn't allow, please call for pre-admitting after hours at your earliest convenience.

Our hospital’s healthcare team will make every effort to ensure our discharge process addresses all your questions and concerns. To help us expedite your discharge, please inform a member of the healthcare team as soon as possible, of any special needs (home health, medical equipment, etc.) you may require upon discharge.

When you are ready to go home, your doctor will write a discharge order. Your nurse will give you written instructions as per your doctor's order for follow-up care, medications and follow-up appointments. Please review with your nurse, sign and take your copy and any prescriptions your doctor has written.

Arrangements for getting home are the responsibility of the patient or family member. If you foresee any difficulties, please tell your nurse as soon as possible, and he/she will ask Social Services to assist you. Ambulance transportation can be arranged for medical reasons only on the recommendations of your doctor.

Please collect all personal items, medication or medical equipment. Double-check all drawers and closets. Reclaim valuables from the safe.

Patients may receive a questionnaire at home after their stay at Our Lady of the Lake. Your feedback is important to us.
