Interventional Neuroradiology

The interventional neuroradiology program at Lourdes is the leading program of its kind in Louisiana. Lead by four highly trained and talented interventional radiologists who are the only full-time specialists of this type in Acadiana, the program also features a custom-designed neuroradiology suite that is the most technologically advanced in the state.

Our interventional neuroradiologists perform a wide range of stroke therapy procedures that provide the life-changing reversal of stroke symptoms such as paralysis, speech problems and vision problems. These procedures include the use of catheters to remove blood clots, the insertion of clot-busting drugs and the insertion of coils for the treatment of aneurysms. In addition, we offer preventative procedures such as angioplasty and stenting of blood vessels in the brain to prevent strokes from occurring.

Our interventional neuroradiology team is also integrated with the Lourdes stroke team to provide immediate, expert care for stroke patients. In addition, one of our interventional neuroradiologists is on call every night of the year to ensure prompt emergency care.

The expertise of our interventional neuroradiologists extends beyond our community, as two of our physicians also teach national courses in stroke therapy procedures. Our interventional neuroradiologists regularly make presentations at various national stroke care meetings and conventions.
